FAQs
Is this actually free?
Yes. The score, the results, and the emailed report are free. Some people who take the quiz hire us for a deeper look. That's the business model, and we're not going to pretend otherwise.
Do you connect to our AWS account?
No. This is a self-assessment. No scanner, no agent, and no OAuth grant touches your environment. Your score is based entirely on your answers. Our paid engagements do involve looking at your environment, with your access and on your terms. That's a separate conversation and a separate consent.
So what does the score actually prove?
Nothing, and we'd rather be straight about that. The score identifies areas worth investigating based on your answers. The score doesn't confirm a single misconfiguration or validate that anything is secure. That takes an engineer looking at the real environment.
Who sees my answers?
Our team, and nobody else. We don't sell data, and we don't share results. If you skip the email step, your results aren't tied to you.
Why do you need a work email for the full report?
Two reasons. The report is specific enough that we want it going to the company it describes. And free-tier inboxes are where our reports go to die.
How is the score calculated?
Ten weighted questions across four areas: identity and access, network exposure, data protection, and logging and monitoring. Critical controls like MFA and centralized CloudTrail weigh more than others. "Not Sure" counts against you, because in security, not knowing is its own finding.
What if I answer "Not Sure" a lot?
That's a result too. If you can't answer 3 or more questions, the gap isn't your configuration. The gap is visibility.
Is this a fit for a big enterprise cloud estate?
Anyone can take the quiz. Our fixed-price engagements are built for a defined AWS environment: roughly 10 to 500 employees, a manageable number of related accounts, and one primary production environment. For a large multi-region or multi-cloud estate, we scope something custom instead of pretending a one-week assessment covers it.
